Eddie McKinney in fast company Dec, 2000, Las Vegas Motor Spdwy. Left to right: Mike Wallace champion Craftsman Truck Series and currently racing Nascar Winston Cup Series, Middle: Me Eddie McKinney...fast at everything, and right: Doug Herbert Top Fuel dragster champion many times and currently living in Winston-Salem, No. Carolina, home of Nascar and Dale Earnhardt Inc., and Richard Childress Racing.  Doug and I have become very good friends correspond often.  Doug has invited me several times to  Winston Drag Races (O'Reilly Nationals) in Houston.  Doug is one of those guys who really lives on the edge.  Told me a story one time about his Dragster blowing up half way through the run and all he could remember was waking up in what was left of the rail he was in with his helmet and face shield blown away with body and face burned badly.  He saw bodies laying all over the place where shrapnel had mowed them down but luckily no one was hurt real bad. Doug said one man wanted him to autograph a piece of the engine they pulled out of his face. Now thats a real fan.  Doug also owns and operates a speed store where he sells parts all over the world.  Will send a picture of rail later.  What is amazing is his crew tears the engine apart and puts it back together in about 45 minutes between each run.  Each run costs about 45,000 dols, Doug told me.  Snap On is his main sponser.  They run the quarter in just over 4 seconds, fast huh. Engine literally explodes on every run.
