One of the great scenes from The Adventures of Tom Sawyers. Tom (Bobby Roberts kneeling) persuades friends Jim (Benny Azopardi standing behind fence), l to r Huck Finn (Eddie McKinney on knees holding mouse), Toms half brother Sid (Milton Felts sitting), and Ben Rogers, friend of Tom (Russel Hoover sitting) into believing nothing could be finer than doing his punishment for playing hooky from school by whitewashing the fence. Perfect example of the power of persuasion portrayed by a young man.

This is one of many scenes that could be seen at the Sabinal Elementary School in the 1940's and 1950's.  I believe this scene was around the fourth grade 1949 or 1950. I stand corrected if anyone knows the exact date.

These skits were known as Operettas and were actually performed at the old high school auditorium. -- Eddie McKinney
