married 12-18-1870 ( They had eleven children)

John Clinton born 11-11-1871 and died 11-2-1873
James H. Barksdale was born and died on 10-18-1873
( the oldest child, John, badly burned his hands under the wash pot He was 2 years old. Mother became so excited , it caused the other child (James) to be born prematurely. He lived for 4 hours. John only lived 2 weeks after he was burned. They were left without any children for 2 years.

Matthew Terrell Barksdale started 11 Church of Christ churches and 9 are still going today. He founded the town of Worthy, Texas located about 10 miles north of Sabinal located across from the Arthur Davis Ranch.
